Washing machines top appliance repair list

Washing machines are the appliances which require attention most regularly, according to a Georgian repairs specialist.

Service Express + LTD told The Financial news website that washing machines were the appliances most regularly sent in for repair. The company receives an average of 600 units per month – almost five times the number of refrigerators received. Fridges placed third on the list behind mobile phones.

Other home appliances which tend to require appliance repairs on a regular basis include televisions (4^th place), gas ovens (5^th place), vacuum cleaners (8^th place) and dishwashers (10^th place). 

Westservice, another repair firm based in Georgia, also said washing machines were the number one domestic appliance when it came to repair work.

In the UK, a consultation relating to extended product warranties is currently underway. The Office of Fair Trading has called for submissions before it makes a decision on whether to allow leading industry retailers to improve the way extended domestic appliance warranties are sold to consumers, or whether a detailed investigation should be conducted.
