Dyson unveils move into heating devices

The secrecy surrounding Dyson's latest product launch has finally been lifted, following an announcement that the company is to produce its first room heater.

Unlike other heaters on the market, the company claims its Dyson Hot fan heaters are the quickest available when it comes to heating a room evenly. Making use of turbocharger and jet engine technology to draw in air, the heaters then blast out a jet of hot air.

The product has been in the research, design and testing stages for the past three years and it took the efforts of 22 engineers to come up with the finished product.

James Dyson said: "Other fan heaters rely on inefficient motors or dust friendly grills. As the heat rises you’re left with a partially heated room and a worrying burning smell. Dyson engineers have developed a heater that produces no smell and heats the whole room."

The Dyson Hot, which is also capable of acting as a cooling fan and producing cold air, is the first invention to be unveiled by the company since the release of the Air Multiplier Fan in 2009.
