Cowell spends £25,000 on pizza ovens

Simon Cowell has reportedly spent £25,000 on two pizza ovens for his American pad in Beverly Hills.

A report by the Daily Mail said the TV star has so far spent £2m renovating his £12m mansion which now contains a movie theatre, pool house and massage room. But as far as catering facilities go, the piece de resistance is an outside patio area containing two Mugnaini Prima 100 wood-fired pizza ovens.

To ensure an even displacement of heat, the oven comprises a refractory clay dome with a firebrick floor. But according to Mugnaini spokesman John Thess, the specialist appliances can cope with far more than the odd margarita.

He said: "Simon loves pizza but these wood-fired ovens can be used to cook everything. Once you have tasted a steak or vegetables cooked in one then nothing ever compares."

Cowell, who created the X Factor reality show, is currently in the US ahead of the programme's TV debut in the States tomorrow night.
