Sony launches new streaming TV service in US
Technology giant Sony has this week launched its new streaming TV service in the US, providing American viewers with a new way to get leading cable channels.
The PlayStation Vue service went live nationwide yesterday - having previously only been available in major US cities - and includes top cable channels such as ESPN and AMC. Subscribers in the new regions can sign up from $29.99 a month, $10 less than existing packages.
However, terrestrial channels - including ABC and Fox affiliates - will not be included in the PlayStation Vue package.
"PlayStation Vue has been an ambitious project from the start, and national expansion demonstrates our ability to innovate in an industry that's overdue for a reinvented experience," said Eric Lempel, senior vice-president of marketing and head of PlayStation Network Americas at Sony Network Entertainment International.
To subscribe to the service, users will need a PlayStation Vue TV-connected device and an internet connection.
