Gas appliances could be phased out by 2020

The change is due to the Paris Climate Change deal which was agreed by 195 countries. The United Nations agreement means nations are obliged to reduce greenhouse gases as of 2020.

The Government’s Committee on Climate Change (CCC) are currently looking for gas boiler replacements, with heat pumps, which take warm air from the ground, being considered.

From 2030 all gas-fired power stations must also be closed.
