LG to unveil 'rollup' TV: report
South Korean electronics manufacturer LG is set to unveil its revolutionary new flexible screen technology next year, it has been reported.
According to Business Korea, LG will officially reveal the wallpaper-thin 'rollup' screen at the ICES industry event in Las Vegas in January. A representative for the firm sought to play down the speculation but did not deny that the device would be unveiled at ICES.
"We haven't decided what products will be introduced at the 2016 ICES," the spokesman said. "So, it is difficult to say firmly that we will release the 55 inch rollable OLED TV at the exhibition."
LG already sells a 65-inch 4K OLED TV, available for $9,000 (£5,800).
Less than a millimetre thick, the device weighs only 1.9kg and can be attached to the wall through the use of magnets. OLED technology is also already used by a number of high-end smartphones and smartwatches.
