For Simon, from Chester-le-Street, has just started a new role as the 0800 Repair franchisee for the Teesside North area. Simon will soon be a familiar sight in Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton, Billingham and Trimdon as he builds up his appliance repair business, travelling around in one of 0800 Repair’s eye-catching black and yellow vans with a 7ft screwdriver on top.
“It’s a really good marketing tool, because it certainly gets you noticed,” said Simon. A former pipe-lining engineer, he chose 0800 Repair as a business because he feels it offers a great deal to customers, repairing all kinds of household appliances from washing machines to dishwashers and cookers.
“It’s great running the franchise myself as I get to set my own pace of work, but I also have the backing of a reputable national company behind me, and the experiences of other franchisees in the region to draw on.
“It’s an exciting time to join the company as their popularity is increasing and they are setting up more and more franchises across the UK.
A keen allotment owner in his spare time, Simon, 32, feels his skills are ideal for his new business.
“I’ve always had a technical kind of mind, and the training by 0800 Repair has been excellent,” he said.
And starting up his own 0800 Repair franchise has another – more romantic – benefit for Simon…
“I’ve been traveling the length and breadth of the country for work for the last ten years, and I think it’s time to settle down – so once things are going smoothly with the business, I’m hoping to marry my fiancée Sarah!” he said.
0800 Repair managing director Paul Feek welcomed Simon to the company.
“This is a good time to be getting into appliance repairs, because since the recession people now want items fixed rather than replaced to save both money and the environment,” he said.
“Good luck to Simon in his new business – and with his new settled life!”
