Washing machine the best gadget of all time – for women?
In a not-in-the- slightest-bit-sexist set of survey results, email titans Hotmail have determined that while the highest proportion of men say that the computer is the best time-saving device ever, an overwhelming 32% of women voted the washing machine into the top slot in their ‘best ever time saving gadgets’ poll, pushing the computer into second place, with the mobile phone placed third, the dishwasher in forth place and the microwave in fifth.

It might be a fairly narrow field of interest, but some fine artists have eschewed the classic bowl of fruit or life model over the years to make their subject the humble household appliance.

Our second classic appliance that refuses to kick the bucket belongs to James Sanbrook. Clean up your electrical act – and stay safe

Of those, almost 13,000 fires each year occur due to either misuse of, or faults with, electrical cooking appliances.

Watch your washer hoses to avoid kitchen floods
It’s wise to keep an eye on the rubber fill hoses that connect to your washer. Over time, as the rubber in these hoses degrade, they can develop bubbles that compromise their integrity, a bit like age-worn car tyres.
We get a lot of calls from customers who are finding that their washer/dryer or standalone dryer is taking far longer to do it job than it used to, or even requiring to run two cycles just to achieve dry clothes!

Fined £200 – for vacuuming and washing!
It all sounds a bit unfair; a Staffordshire woman has been fined £200 for keeping her home clean. Mind you, ‘sound’ appears to have been exactly the problem – she’s been doing her chores at 4.30 in the morning!
Washing machine smells? It could be you!
This is a subject that we have covered before but it is worth considering again. Many people (including myself) have noticed a degradation the quality of washing machine performance accompanied by troublesome black mold growth in many parts of the machine.
